Satisfying a craving…
I was really having a bad day at work. I have lots of work to do and yet I have so little time. In addition to all the stress that I have, is the grumbling tummy. I guess I’m becoming a stress eater again. Cravings are experienced almost everyday. And right this moment, I’m craving for some Korean food. So with my convincing power, me and my co-tutors dined in Ganji.
Ganji is the Korean restaurant recommended by my student, Nana. It is located in Terra Dolce Shopping Center in 13th Street, Corner Hilado Extension.
The first time I ate here, I was with Nana and Lilit. Nana ordered for us since were clueless which one to pick. She ordered Hae Mul Pan Jan and Dak Galbi. Hae Mul Pan Jan or Pa Jeon is very delicious but you need to eat it while its hot because it’s flavor and yummyness seems to fade as heat dispels. Dak Galbi made me ate veggies. I rarely eat veggies, rarer than a four-leaf clover. That night, when Dak Galbi was served I thought I’m not gonna survived dinner. But when I tasted it, it was heaven ~ a spicy kind of heaven!
This time around, I came with Lilit and Denise. We ordered Kimbap, Dakdori Tang, and Dak Galbi.
Kimbap is sticky rice rolled in seaweed wrapper with vegetables, ham, scrambled egg, and hotdog chunks. At first, I didnt want to try it because of the seaweed wrapper. I also thought that you need to dip it in a special sauce, just like how one eats a sushi. Denise encouraged me to give it a try. And I did! I’m happy that I did. I really like how the sesame seeed complimented the taste of sticky rice and vegetables. And nope, Kimbap isnt like sushi. No special sauce needed.
Dakdori Tang is one spicy soup! It is not advisable to give this one a try if you are suffering from hemorrhoids. Dakdori Tang is spicy chicken soup with potato. It is marinated with hot pepper sauce and soy sauce, and as well as other veggies like carrots, onions, and chili peppers.
Three of us feasted over this scrumptious, spicy foods. Having good friends with good food wards off negative thoughts and stress. Satisfying a craving would somehow create good effect on the person experiencing it, even though most of the time it will make one fat. Being a stress eater may be bad but att the end of the day, a good meal can be relaxing and comforting.
