Ice Giants Desserts & Snacks
Ice Giants Desserts & Snacks, a chain of quick-service dessert restaurants owned by the Villaceran couple, is originally from Davao City. In Cebu, they have two branches. One is in The Strip in Osmena Boulevard, and the other one is in City Times Square in Subangdaku, Mandaue City. My Geliebter and I went to the latter.
A server, dressed up like sailor, welcomed us with a big smile. The colorful interiors exude a happy aura that will surely charm the young and the young hearts.
As the name suggests, this food place isn’t just some typical dessert spot. The place also serves a line of snacks inspired from American comfort foods. The scrumptious choices range from sandwiches, pastas, and fried chicken. Definitely not advisable for those who are dieting.
Platter of fries P195
I LOVE IT! This one may be a bit pricey for a plateful of cut potatoes but its oh so worth it. Regular, crisscross, and twister fries, served with three dips: mayo, cheese, and ketchup. This is a piece of heaven on earth for potato-lovers. You’ll not regret ordering this.
Platter Gourmet Sausages P295
For the cold treats, the menu varies from ice cream parfaits to sweet desserts made from fine-shaved ice. Ice Giants is well-known for Ice Giants concoctions. You can choose from three flavors: Halo-Halo, Chocolate Titans, and Mango Magnifico. These giant desserts weigh 3 kilos and are good for 5-10 persons, depending on appetite. It is perfect for sharing among friends and family since each person will be given a small bowl so they can get their own share. Price range is around P490 – P600.
Besides the gigantic desserts, there are items on the menu as well that should be perfect for individual consumption. Yes, solo servings are also available and that’s what we got.
Chocolate Sundae P108 and Durian Delight
THE STORY OF GELIEBTER’s DURIAN DELIGHT:
(Description on the menu) Durian Delight: Davao’s pride durian fresh fruit filled with crispy rice and sprinkled with chopped peanuts, topped with vanilla ice cream and thick syrup.
I am really a lover of the store-brought durian candy sticks ever since I was young. When Geliebter ordered Durian Delight (because the server said it is their new best seller), I thought I’m going to like it as well. However, when I tasted it, my taste buds got angry. Even when Geliebter mixed it with ice cream, I still didn’t like it. I told him that Durian Delight is still on the menu and is one of the best sellers because people are just plain curious what’s the taste and it doesn’t mean they love what they ordered. Well, maybe it’s a different case in Ice Giants Davao. His response? “You’re a meanie and unadventurous when it comes to food. Try to savour it and understand the taste.” Rigggghhhttt! In the end, he folded and said that he didn’t like it as well and that he was just trying to convince himself and me so he could finish his bowl. Hahahaha!
Going back, it is expected of me to get anything with chocolate. There are a lot of options, and I want to try them all. But my sensible conscience killed the impulsive me, by reminding me that I just had dinner and stomach doesnt have enough space. So I narrowed down my options, torn between Choco Chips Parfait, Oreo Choco Parfait, and Chocolate Sundae. I settled with Chocolate Sundae, because the size is just about right. The chocoholic in me still rejoiced with 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream, topped with nuts, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and cherry.
We went to Ice Giants – City Times Square the second time around. This time we tried their Sweet Corn Giants and Halohalo Giants (P88.00 each). This time, Geliebter enjoyed his order. 🙂
Truly, this most patronized dessert shop in Cebu, is a haven for a sweet-tooth individual who is longing for a GIANT sugary indulgence.
Now here’s a picture of my sundae, tempting you to go get one.
And maybe next time we’ll bumped into each other, cause we’re definitely coming back for more!
