Isla Del Fuego: Adios Nueve
I had my first ever fish spa at the Old Enchanted Balete Tree. I was very excited to try out this unusual foot spa treatment which involves plunging your feet into a pool full of Garra Rufa fish. The Garra Rufa fish, also known as the Doctor Fish, are found in Turkey and have been used for softening and cleansing the skin of bathers for centuries. Their suction−cup mouths gently lift away dry skin without damaging the healthy new cells underneath, to reveal soft, supple and smooth skin. So they get a good feed, while your feet are exfoliated. Everyone’s a winner!

After some photoshoots and checking out of the place, we sat down by the man-made pool dipped our tired feet. We did squeal embarrassingly loud when we first dipped our feet in. The fishes are not shy – they get straight right on!

I kind of like the feeling of fish tickling my feet. I am actually fond of going to a foot spa, where someone massages my tired feet with their bare hands. With fish spa, the fish will nibble at the dead, flaky skin off your feet with their lips. As mentioned above, they don’t have any teeth, so they can’t bite off healthy skin..
Notice that I have a lot of doctor fishes compare to Rida’s? Yes, that is one evidence that I need to catch up on my foot spa schedule. Yes, they are having a feast on my feet during that time. They must be having a time of their lives now. BUFFEEEETTTT!!!
Of course it scared the shit out of me! Who wouldnt be? Look at them!! Look at their size!!
But of course, the curious cat in me won and decided to give them a portion of my precious dead skin cells. Well small fishes are very ticklish, while the big ones, not really. I actually prefer them over the small ones. Too bad, it was already time for us to leave. So sorry, father and mother fishes. Maybe next time you can have my eat all you can dead skin cells buffet! 🙂
