Bacolaodiat 2017: Schedule of Activities
The first day of the Chinese New Year or the Lunar New Year is celebrated on the new moon between the 21st of January and 20th of February. And here in the City of Smiles, we celebrate together with our brothers and sisters from the Filipino-Chinese community in welcoming the year of the rooster.
As mentioned on my previous post about my beautiful city, we have a lot of festivals here in the City of Smiles. One of which is the Bacolaodiat Festival. Bacolaodiat is a Chinese New Year celebration and the word was coined from the word “Bacolod” and “Laodiat” which is a Fookien word for celebration. And 2017, Year of the Fire Rooster, marks the 12th year of the Bacolaodiat Festival.
